View Full Version : Help with a horn for a newbie

Folks,
I know this is a trivial problem and I'll understand if I get nothing but laughter!
I have a '71 Chev C-10. When it was redone the guy pulled the wheel to repaint the interior. The outcome resulted in a horn that worked when it wanted to. I took it back twice and they patched it but the button felt loose and the horn would not work consistantly. My relationship with this company has been turned over to my junk yard lawyer!
I ordered a kit from LMC Truck and following their exploded view in their catalog. I found that the button cup as well as the flat tension spring just floated and shorted out. The orientation of the insulating bushing is also in question as well as the screw heads included were not wide enough to lock the assembly down.
I understand this is a basic "doorbell" circiut and I've done most of the work on the interior myself, but this has got me stumped.
Any help on the orientation of this kit, or the error of my ways would be appreciated.
Thank you all in advance and sorry for the long post.

It's been awhile since I had mine off... I'll take mine off tomorrow and take a few pitures to show how it all goes.
