OK lets see I am not the greatest for explaining things but, here goes! The new burb is shifting hard IMO ! It is the 700r4 or what ever? It shifts really hard into second, I dont know how explain, it is not really hard but it is totally differant from the 350 in Jenna's truck. It shifts into second gear, furmly, not really a salm but a solid slap. it seems to change depending on how much gas you apply !? It is really strange, I have never drivin anything with the 700r4 tranny in it !
Anyhelp would be great ! or ideas ? Landon

The transmission in my truck is a 700R4. I had to replace the old won cause it went south in a big way.
I told the guy how I expected to drive the truck and treat the transmission. He put in a shift kit, heavyduty clutches or something like that. He told me to drive the sh... out of it I ain't gonna hurt it. I shifed real hard from low to second when I first got it. Either it has smoothed out or I am used to it now. Its been in there about a year and a ½.
Hope this helps.

The trans is designed to shift harder with more throttle pressure, this ensures the clutches will not slip under power. If someone has installed a shift kit, it makes the shift take less time therefore making it hit harder. Unless its overly harsh, this will actually make the transmission last longer.

Thanks for the replys guys, It seems that the more I am on the gas the smoother it gets, But it still bothers me ! I asked the guy I got it from tonight, what problums it has had in the past. He has not got back to me yet ! So we will see what he says and then I will have better info on the problum ! We drove it this weekend out to the Ren Faire, and It drove just fine IMO.:) But I still am not used to drivng a big old boat ! :D

I put the tranny in. No shift kit. I did install a corvette servo tho. Stiffer 1-2 shift so that would explain it. The adjustment for the kickdown can also cause a hard shift. If you adjust it you might beable to soften it.
Here is what Jason had to say about the tranny ! I'm still confused, so mabe it would be better having the tranny checked out ! Thanks for the help again guys ! :D

I know almost nothing about trannies....but I believe the vette servo just allows the tranny to shift firmer. I don't believe you have anything to worry about, unless the trans fluid is brownish colored, or smells burnt.
Best of luck.
