View Full Version : Tire size, wheel size, and backspacing
OK, post what you're using.
Mine are 17x8 with 5" bs all the way around (rears have a 5/16" spacer behind them). Tires are 255/50/17 all the way around.

15x8 4x4 rallies with 255/60/15's front and 275/60/15's rear.
The drop is a 4/6 now instead of the 4/4. I have also sanded down all of the dusted on black and have another coat of primer on the truck.

Nothin' special. Chevy Ralley's on both trucks, soon. The 67's will be 6-bolt. And Goodrich 245x70x15's on the fronts and 275x60x15 on the rears.

18"x8" up front with 255/45/18, 4.5" b.s.
18"x9.5" in rear with 285/40/18, 5.25" b.s.
If you crunch the numbers, the front sidewalls are 0.02952" taller than rears but those are the closest sizes I could find that were available ;) The next taller size tire in an 18" is a 285/50/18 but I didn't want that much more sidewall in the rear.
Tires are Dunlop SP Sport 9000's

15" or 16" (or whatever) stock split rims  with some generic 32" OD bias ply tube mud tires, stock backspacing. I'm not really concerned with the measurements of these, because they will be in the dumpster as soon as I am not poor.

I haven't gotten that far along. I will have to special order them anyway so it's whatever backspacing I want, I think. I thought it was 4.5 in the front?? I was going to start trying to figure all that out once I got closer. I do know that the wheels I have now don't have enough backspacing because my tires stick out in the front and I only have about 1.5 inches of clearance from the fender lip. it's rubbed a couple of times since this weekend...

hi everyone I currently have 15x8 with adapters 215 60 r15 and the tires hit the fenders if I have a fat friend ridin with me or if I hit a good dip in the road. I'm lookin get a set of 17x9.5 front and 18x10 rear but I don't know what the best offset and backspacing would be in order to get the best clearance. I have a brand new set of corvette c5 runflat tires I wanna make fit.

I run a 18x9 eagle alloy with a 255/55/18 toyo and have very little problems with rubbing even though I lowered it with 1" drop springs and a 2.5" drop spindle up front and 4" springs in the rear.

I figured you'd jump in here rubberducky...err chicken ;) I thought you had similar tires and probably wheels. I am surprised you've got the 1" lowering springs up front and just a 4" drop in the back. Our trucks set just about the same but, I used stock springs up front and 5" drop springs on the rear.

Sam you know I can't keep my thoughts to myself. I could go a little lower in the rear but I think Piston would have to fix me up with a little cutting on the cross-member and one of those one piece drive shafts. I've already turned the carrier bearing bracket over which I believed helped with the alignment some.
